Chocolate Easter Nests

(Goblin is 29 months)
We have been ill for what feels like about a decade but in reality is only a week. Yesterday we needed some comfort food so we had a family cooking session. I use the word cooking in the loosest sense as there really isn't an oven involved.
Goblin broke 4 bars of very cheap milk chocolate into a bowl. We used Morrisons Own Value chocolate which is 35p for 100g, and actually tastes quite nice. Despite what this picture might suggest, most of the chocolate did make it into the bowl. I zapped the chocolate in the microwave for ninety seconds to melt it down. Then I added a tablespoon of Golden syrup - this helps the chocolate to spread across the cornflakes and not harden too fast - we could have done with two tablespoons but I only had one left at the bottom of the jar. Don't add the Golden syrup before you heat it because it gets very hot and carries on cooking and can make this activity dangerous for little ones.
Goblin added half a box of cornflakes - and stirred them into the chocolate with a bit of help from me and Hublet. Unlike the chocolate a large amount of cornflakes ended up in Goblin's mouth. It is a judgement how many cornflakes you add - personal preference. We kept going until the chocolate started to not cover all of them. We added some catering glitter to make them sparkly (in our house this is called 'crack' - its sooooo moorish and makes all cakes taste ten times better).
I often take our catering exploits in to work to share with my team but Goblin coughed and spluttered into the bowl as he mixed this batch which branded the cakes contaminated and not for sharing outside of the already infected family (I can't say I was too upset by this decision which meant we'd have to eat all of them ourselves).
I had got Goblin to put cupcake cases in each of the muffin tin holes before we started - this is really good one-to-one correspondence practice. He enjoyed doing this and was quite good at separating out the cupcake cases. I helped him scoop out cornflake mixture and put them into each of the cases. There was exactly the right mount for 24 cases.
Goblin added minieggs to the cornflake nests. This was an interesting exercise and went something like "one for the nest and two for my mouth, one for the nest, three for my mouth". I'm amazed we managed to get two eggs in each nest with only two bags of minieggs. When they were done we popped them in the fridge for ten minites to help them solidify.
Then we ate them ALL! Just what the Doctor ordered.
