His mother used to tell them that when they die they will be presented with all the food they haven't eaten and will have to eat it before they get into heaven. Hubbie and I joke about the amount of crusts that are awaiting him!crafty elsiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17733256756301833064noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4437312531314961361.post-10284560536664730872013-03-20T12:16:01.980+00:002013-03-20T12:16:01.980+00:00Thanks so much for hosting! Thanks so much for hosting!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10289986449256666881noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4437312531314961361.post-59286541014510811632013-03-17T18:34:53.613+00:002013-03-17T18:34:53.613+00:00Oh that's a good point I hadn't thought ab...Oh that's a good point I hadn't thought about it that wayThe Monkohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02015980234917286789noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4437312531314961361.post-91690683665543413542013-03-17T17:48:01.309+00:002013-03-17T17:48:01.309+00:00Thanks so much for hosting - confess to being comp...Thanks so much for hosting - confess to being complicit in cutting off crusts, justified only by desire to reduce the amount of bread wasted :-(Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12272097956265786825noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4437312531314961361.post-70658099840384446692013-03-17T13:10:45.626+00:002013-03-17T13:10:45.626+00:00You bring up so many interesting issues -- the mix...You bring up so many interesting issues -- the mixed bag of exposing kids to the world, how kids mimic other kids behavior for reasons that aren't inherent to the thing itself (in this case food), how kids assert their independence and whether to intervene. I agree with you that this is one to leave alone. Growing independence is more important than eating your crusts!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06644197778332602406noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4437312531314961361.post-19454909661028713852013-03-17T00:02:50.817+00:002013-03-17T00:02:50.817+00:00Ah the food fads that have come and gone in this h...Ah the food fads that have come and gone in this house! Now, after nine years of it, I am much wiser and glad that we didn't often make a fuss over sudden bouts of 'I don't like that anymore'. Ok so it may have taken 3 years for one of my kids to come round to eating spag bol again, but she did, eventually, of her own accord!
I am totally with you on not wanting to make food into a big deal. I want meal times to be enjoyable, I want my kids to learn about food and nutrition and to learn how to make their own choices regarding food...
Oh and thanks for featuring me too!katepicklehttp://www.picklebums.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4437312531314961361.post-38434681959485467352013-03-16T22:56:51.395+00:002013-03-16T22:56:51.395+00:00We had that with white bread. He used to eat Wheat Bread no problem, then he spent a few days at my sisters house and said he would only eat "Josie Bread" I gave in for one loaf and could not believe that was counted as nutritional. I switched back, and when he asked where "his bread" was, I told him this was his bread, and he could take it or leave it. He started eating it!Jenhttp://breaktheparentingmold.com/noreply@blogger.com
